Ana Teresa Espinoza

President

Ana Teresa Espinoza is the current President of NAHJ and previously served as Vice President. She is majoring in journalism where she hopes to gain more knowledge on the diaspora of Latinx Communities. She previously worked on the Daily Wildcat on the News Desk and interned at Tucson Local Media. She also worked as a fixer for the Helsingin Sanomat, the largest subscription newspaper in Finland. She is excited to see what is in store for this years NAHJ group

Diana Ramos

Vice- President

Diana Ramos is a junior student-athlete from Guatire Miran, Venezuela. Ramos is majoring in Journalism with a minor in Geography and competes in the high jump for the Cats. Ramos wants to pursue a Master in Latin America Studies and be a foreign reporter; she was named B.P. Campbell Outstanding Junior for the UA Journalism program. For the Fall semester, Ramos is working for the Daily Wildcat as the Arts & Life Desk Assistant Editor and she is UA NAHJ Vice-president.

Julia Blumberg

Secretary

Julia Blumberg is from Wilmington, Delaware and has been a member of NAHJ for about a year. She is a graduate student studying Bilingual Journalism and Latin American Studies. In addition to her role as the NAHJ Secretary, Julia serves as president of the Latin American Studies Student Organization at the University of Arizona. She hopes to help plan joint events between NAHJ and LASSO and learn more about reporting on migration and human rights issues. Her research focuses on how cross border humanitarian organizations support asylum seekers on the Arizona-Mexico Border. Her interest lies in migration, human rights practice, and U.S. asylum policy. In terms of her future, she hopes to work in an embassy setting or the United Nations.

Jaqueline Larson

Social Media Manager- Twitter

Jacqueline Larson is a sophomore majoring in public health and minoring in studio art. She is interested in improving the health of individuals in rural communities, disbanding the barriers that permit them from receiving help and to spread awareness of people’s needs. These community projects and injustices necessitate documentation to be publicized. She plans to use journalism as a way to share the work being done and to begin conversations about what can help achieve a healthy status for every individual, wherever they fit in the socio-economic class. She has written articles for her high school newspaper, published an article on the SEAHEC website, and enjoys writing as a hobby.

Isabella Barron

Social Media Manager- Instagram

Isabella Barrón is a senior at the University of Arizona double majoring in Journalism and Gender/Women’s Studies. She is one of this year’s social media managers for the UA chapter of NAHJ. Isabella was born and raised in Nogales, Arizona. She previously wrote for the Arts and Life Desk at the Daily Wildcat, has freelanced some stories for the Nogales International, and also writes some pieces for Art Motif online magazine. Her passions lie in writing and storytelling as she greatly enjoys writing feature and profile stories. Isabella believes that everyone’s story matters and that everyone deserves to have someone listen and share their stories/experiences with the world.

Vanessa Lucero

Activities Coordinator

Vanessa Lucero earned a B.A. in Media Studies with a concentration in journalism at the City University of New York, Hunter College. Born and raised in New York, she will continue her education in the School of Journalism at the University of Arizona in pursuit of an M.A. in Bilingual Journalism. Lucero wrote for The Envoy and The Athenian. Her writing was featured on Dateline: CUNY, which showcases the best journalistic pieces of undergraduate students at the City University of New York. Her interests revolve around the social and political issues surrounding the Latinx community. Lucero’s interests also include audio production and broadcasting. She is a former member of Circle K International, where she actively participated in different service opportunities and events.

Miguel Grageda

Treasurer

Miguel Grageda is a graduate student in the Department of Natural Resources and the Environment at the University of Arizona. Miguel has worked on wildlife conservation projects for many years with non-governmental organizations and protected natural areas in Mexico and the United States. He is passionate about photography and
documents wildlife and ecosystems in Mexico. He is currently focused on two projects: the biological corridor of the Sonoran pronghorn and the degradation of the Sonoyta turtle habitat. Miguel’s goal is to communicate through images and stories the urgent necessity of conservation of our natural richness.

Clara Migoya

President

Clara Migoya is a Mexican environmental scientist and a bilingual journalist based in Tucson, AZ. She writes on the environment, rural communities and social justice. As part of her scholar background, she has worked with data management, environmental history research and stakeholder analysis. She graduated from the University of Arizona School of Journalism master program in May 2021.

Ana Teresa is a freshman currently majoring in Journalism. She aims to be a documentarian with an emphasis on social justice. She is currently in the news desk at the Daily Wildcat and covers social justice and science beats. For her high school senior project, she created a documentary examining the application of the school dress code. She interviewed students and staff and presented it and the administration offices took action in learning more about the research to change the policies.

Diana Ramos is a rising sophomore from Guatire Miran, Venezuela. Ramos is majoring in Journalism and competes in the high jump for the Cats. As a freshman, Ramos took sixth place at the Pac-12 Championships and qualified for the NCAA West Region Championships in the high jump. For the Fall semester, Diana is working for the Daily Wildcat as a reporter on the Arts & Life Desk. She is dedicated and a very active person because of that she was selected to be the activity coordinate of the NAHJ.

Miguel Grageda

Treasurer

Graduate student in the School of Natural Resources and the Environment with his minor in journalism. Interested in combining science, photography and writing to encourage the conservation of the environment. His current projects are focused in the Sonoran desert and how human development is affecting some of the most threatened species of wildlife that inhabit this ecoregion.

Cristina Felix

Secretary

Cristina Felix is a freshman majoring in Journalism and Spanish with a minor in Latin American Studies. She worked as an intern for the Arizona Daily Star and is now dedicated to her studies. She enjoys learning about the latin history, culture and traditions. Her love for her mexican culture is undeniable and that’s why she is a proud member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
